The Income Tax Act, 2025, as amended by the Finance Act, 2025, introduces a complete overhaul of India’s direct tax system, replacing the Income Tax Act, 1961 after more than sixty years. This first edition serves as an authoritative reference for tax professionals, lawyers, corporate advisors, and students, providing the full statutory text along with essential comparative tools to bridge the old and new laws.

The book is designed for clarity and practical use, featuring:

  • Complete section-wise coverage of the Income Tax Act, 2025

  • Comparative tables mapping provisions of the 1961 Act with the 2025 Act (and vice versa)

  • Clause-wise definitions and analysis highlighting major shifts and updates

  • Judicial pronouncements and case references for practical interpretation

  • Summarised comparative insights to quickly grasp the key changes

Structured to guide readers seamlessly, the book covers every aspect of the law: basis of charge, exemptions, heads of income, deductions, capital gains, assessments, appeals, penalties, TDS/TCS, international taxation, GAAR, and dispute resolution mechanisms. Its side-by-side comparison of old and new provisions makes it especially useful for professionals adapting to the new regime.

Whether for daily practice, compliance management, litigation, or academic study, this edition offers a reliable, up-to-date, and practical resource on India’s most significant tax reform in decades.
